Kobra 3 V2: We Heard You! Key Fixes & Upgrades Inside

At Anycubic, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in desktop 3D printing. Our Kobra 3 has been a favorite among hobbyists and professionals alike for its affordability and multi-color printing capabilities. However, we also learned a lot along the way. After thorough market feedback analysis and listening closely to our users' suggestions, we are excited to introduce the Anycubic Kobra 3 V2—a significant upgrade that is packed with improvements and features you’ve been asking for. Let’s dive right in!

Listening, Improving, Evolving: What’s New in Kobra 3 V2?

Part 1: Addressing What Matters Most

1. Improved Leveling Accuracy for Flawless First Layers

One of the biggest concerns we heard was about bed leveling and print success rates. We get it—nothing’s more frustrating than a failed print. So, we’ve made some serious upgrades to the Kobra 3 V2 to address this.

Kobra 3 V2 Auto Leveling

● Sturdier Y-Axis: We’ve widened the Y-axis from 40mm to 60mm. This might sound like a small change, but it makes a huge difference in reducing height errors during those back-and-forth movements, giving the auto-leveling probe a more accurate read.

● Stable X-Axis Movement: By switching to a new SG15 bearing system on the X-axis, the printhead now glides more smoothly and securely, resulting in better alignment and fewer errors.

● LeviQ 3.0 Auto-Leveling: Combine these hardware upgrades with our latest LeviQ 3.0 auto-leveling tech and Z-axis compensation-free feature, and you’ve got a printer that nails the first layer every time, ensuring a higher printing success rate.

2. Nozzle Upgrade for Fewer Leaks

Another user-reported issue was occasional filament leakage from the nozzle. In Kobra 3 V2, we’ve implemented the same trusted nozzle technology used in the Kobra S1, which means better airtightness and a significant reduction in material leakage.

Part 2: Giving Users What They Asked For

We’re not just solving problems—we’re also delivering on your most requested features.

1. Camera with Better Resolution

A camera is no longer just a "nice-to-have" for many makers—it’s a necessity. Kobra 3 V2 now comes standard with a camera, offering 720P resolution for clear, real-time monitoring of your prints. All you need is to print a mounting bracket, and you’re ready to go. (The model file of the mounting bracket has been preloaded in the printers.)

2. Multicolor printing is where Kobra 3 truly shines, and now it shines even brighter.

Kobra 3 V2 offers package options that support up to 8 colors, including dual ACE Pro units and an official filament hub for eight-color printing.

Prefer to DIY? You can also print the filament hub yourself and buy another ACE Pro together to enable 8-color printing.

Part 3: Software That Keeps Up

We know hardware is only half the story. That’s why we’ve also made software enhancements to give you more control and better output.

1. True Full-Bed Printing (2025 Q3 as estimated)

Kobra 3 V2’s firmware update unlocks the full potential of its print bed. The maximum print size is increased from 250×250×260mm to 255×255×260mm, which means a jump in volume from 16.25L to 16.9L—a 4% increase that gives you more space without changing the machine's footprint.

2. Area-Leveling Function (2025 Q2)

No more leveling the whole bed when you’re just printing in one corner. With the area-leveling function, Kobra 3 V2 now focuses only on the section where your model sits, saving time and getting your first layer right, faster.

Kobra 3 Owners, You Can Upgrade Too!

Already own a Kobra 3? Good news—many Kobra 3 V2 improvements are retrofit-friendly:

Area-Leveling (via firmware update, 2025 Q2)

Camera Upgrade to 720P (via firmware update)

Larger Print Volume (255×255×260mm) (via firmware update, 2025 Q3 as estimated)

Nozzle Upgrade (buy a Kobra 3 V2 nozzle to replace the Kobra 3 one; Note: Kobra 3 units bought after Q4 2024 already have this upgrade)

8-Color Printing (buy an extra ACE Pro + official filament hub or print your own hub)

What Stays the Same? The Core Strengths That Made Kobra 3 Great!

The Kobra 3 V2 keeps the winning formula that made the original a fan favorite:

1. Multi-Color Printing at an Entry-Level Price

4 colors out of the box, expandable to 8 colors—still the most budget-friendly way into multi-material printing.

2. Built-in Filament Drying

No more worrying about moist filament—essential for multi-color setups.

3. Blazing-Fast Speeds

300mm/s recommended, 600mm/s max—perfect for quick, high-quality prints.

Wrapping Up

So there you have it, makers! The Anycubic Kobra 3 V2 is more than just an upgrade—it’s a reimagining of what an entry-level multi-color 3D printer can be. By addressing key pain points, enhancing functionality, and retaining the core strengths of the Kobra 3, the Kobra 3 V2 offers unparalleled stability, reliability, and value. Whether you’re a seasoned 3D printing enthusiast or just starting out, the Kobra 3 V2 is a printer that deserves serious consideration.
